Ted went hunting in the morning and let me sleep in. I went for a walk “with” my sister – she calls from California at 6:30AM her time/8:30AM my time and we talk for 45 minutes or so. We usually both walk, but sometimes one of us just talks! I walked to a nearby lake:

Ted also walked near a lake just outside of town with his gun in tow. He brought home 2 black squirrels (and a couple of ticks – which didn’t get a chance to bite him-yay!) There is a melanistic form of gray squirrel that lives in these parts. They are pretty cool. I’m sure they will be beautiful taxidermy mounts:

After the mighty hunter returned, we went to the local tourist visitor center for some maps and advice about where to start exploring. We decided to start with Little Bass Lake. It is a lovely little lake with a boat access.

It is a perfect little kayaking lake. What is surprising how many more lakes are around. It’s almost hard to find it on the map.

We spent the rest of the afternoon looking at some of the other water in the area including Buffalo, Sweeny, Cunard, Gilmore, Rainbow Lakes and even a stretch of the Wisconsin River. All are lovely but honestly we have a hard time remembering which is which!
