Sometimes, you just have to slow down for a moment. Guess today was one of those times. Got up, ate, took a nap. Ted watched birds on the timeshare island. Mom painted. I don’t know what Aunt Charlotte did. After my nap, Ted and I went to the nearest village and bought bread and groceries and dessert. While we were gone, Mom took a nap. Aunt Charlotte decided to take a walk to explore our village (Connelles). Mom woke up just in time to join her. They were resting near the church when we drove by and gave them a ride home. No adventures today!

Quiet days are also an opportunity to do chores, like laundry. When in a new country with a language barrier, even a simple chore can be a challenge! We ended up bringing one of the staff members down to show us how to use the washing machine, the microwave and the stove. At least we figured out how to open the refrigerator by ourselves! The Washer/Dryer unit was really interesting. One time we did get the thing to wash AND dry the clothes. Another time, we ended up washing the same load about 5 times! Oy vey. after several hours, we gave up and hung the clothes to dry.

I have been remiss in sharing what Ted had been doing while waiting for 3 women to get ready for each day. The lovely little island at our timeshare has some pretty good birds. Ted leaves, binoculers in hand, and enjoys the birds and the morning without the distractions. He returns about the time we are ready to go. It’s been quite the blessing!
Here are a few of the birds he has seen. Fortunately for me, Ted has taken me to see quite a few of them. The European Robin and Eurasion Great Tit have been on my bucket list for years. The Euasian Kingfisher on Ted’s. The Woodpeckers are pretty special too!
