Honfleur

September 3, 2025

Mom was very excited to return to a town she only had a glimpse of when in France previously. She kept calling it Haniford which sounds very much like an English town and not much like a French village. We decided she was remembering either Honfleur or Havre. Actual touring of France should be checking out Mom’s bucket list village. We only made it to Honfleur, and I don’t think it was the correct one. Oh, well. We had fun and it was pretty cool. The weather was a little iffy so we brought rain gear and umbrella. After another 2 hour ride that with my driving took 3 (I’m improving a little!) we arrived in Honfleur. It’s a medieval harbor town. Since it was already 2, we were famished. First stop, a restuarant:

Our meals were ok. Our dessert was wonderful. The best part of the meal was watching the massive storm which blew through while we ate. It was quite the gully washer and we just enjoyed our meals. After lunch and the rainstorm, we could venture out for some shopping and sightseeing.

The town is wonderfully cute. One of the highlights of the town is an old wooden church. It is the oldest such church in France and a lovely old tower sits in the same square:

As in all medieval towns, there are plenty of picturesque vignettes to photograph. Honfleur is also blessed with beautiful flower displays.

Another storm was coming through, so we opted not to cross ove the harbor to Havre and headed back to the timeshare.
