We decided our last stay in Colombia should be the top of the line. Araucana is it! The rooms are spacious, the staff is gracious, and everything is “just so”. I guess I’m not really a top of the line person. We had fun and it was nice to have amenities like hot running water in both the sink and the shower. We didn’t see lots of birds but we did relax!

Throughout the trip we were getting concerning messages regarding our flight home. Avianca changed the flight time at least 3 times. It was to the point we really didn’t know what time we were leaving or arriving back in the states. Fortunately the hostess at Araucana is fluent in English, Spanish and Computer. She managed to get our flight changed so we could fly home early without a 15 hour layover. We left the hotel at 4:00am to head home.

We arrive back in the San Francisco at 10PM and Cyndi picked us up at SFO. We were back at her house by 12:30 (3:30AM Colombian time). Almost 24 hours of travel. Our goal will be to never again fly on Avianca.

Although I feel as though I have a zillion posts about our trip, they barely scratch the surface of the fun and memories we have. We made friends, saw incredible places, and amazing wildlife. I might want wait a month or two, but definitely want to return someday.!
