We headed to Manizales from Jardin. While Daniel was still with us, he interpreted so we were sure we bought the correct bus ticket. Our Spanish is so pathetic, we could have ended up in Peru for all we knew!

The only public transportation to Manizales on a sane road that a normal person would be willing travel on leaves a 6:20 am. It’s a van for 8 people, but they travel with 12 people. Even the good road was pretty intense as far as I’m concerned. I’m glad it was only a couple of hours.

About half way through the trip, traffic stopped because of a landslide. Everyone piled out of the van and started clearing the road as though this is a normal occurance…

Once in Manizales, we were dumped at the bus station. We had arranged for a driver but he didn’t know how to find us. That was a bit stressful, but eventually we connected and he drove us to Tinamu Birding Nature Reserve…
