St Louis

May 6,7 Botanical Garden

The weather on the way to St Louis can be classed as nothing better than dreary. Although the weather-guessers are forecasting sunny weather tomorrow I have my doubts. This is the view of the arch on the way to the campground:

Doesn’t seem that tomorrow will be a great day to visit a garden.

Once we arrived at the campground the rain stopped. We have found yet another lovely lake campground. We are staying 2 nights at Lake Carlyle about 30 minutes from St Louis. You would never know there is a big city so close. We woke up to a glorious day! Here is the arch on the way back into town:

What difference 12 hours can make!!

The St Louis Botanical Garden is rated best in the country by TripAdvisor. It is 70 acres and quite beautiful. I think we enjoyed the birds more than the plants, but I do have lots of pictures:

Lake Carlyle is actually in Illinois. The roads in Illinois are horrible and gas is 80 cents more than in Missouri. Hmm. Apparently the gas taxes aren’t being used to improve the roads.

On the way to Carlyle, we drove through the prettiest little Midwest town; Lebanon Illinois. It won’t be the last town we think is absolutely charming. This is worth a few internet pictures:

  1. Great job, The pictures are beautiful and I didn’t have to pay for gas to see them.
    Thanks for sharing.
